How To Plant Cinnamon

How To Grow A Cinnamon Tree
It’s actually quite easy to grow Cinnamon , but somewhat on the slow side. We like to grow them in warm greenhouses, although they will tolerate lower temperatures.
We generally grow them in our warmer greenhouse.
It’s a very attractive plant. Because when its new growth, it has these bronze leaves that come out, and they are initially come out as a red. So they form this beautiful red color to them.
And it’s pretty adaptable in terms of its culture. Generally, we like to grow it in a bright, sunny spot.
As a rule of thumb, we like to dry the plant out in between watering. There are some small problems with root disease if the plant is kept too wet or temperatures are cool.
But generally it has a pretty strong root system. In terms of soils, we generally like to grow them in a slightly acidic soil.
One of the issues we can face with cinnamon is chlorosis. That is when these leaves, particularly the young ones, become yellow and the veins stop popping out. And that’s called venoclerosis, generally caused by an iron deficiency.
We do see it occasionally in plants, particularly our young plants. Dropping the PH on that helps to correct that problem. Also, adding a supplemental iron to your fertilizer will improve that iron chelate can be sprayed on the leaves or watered into the soil.
That’s one of the few problems that we actually see nutritionally from this generally. If your fertilizer is balanced and has some micronutrients, that’s a good beginning.
And then, of course, taking care that the plant is grown in warmer conditions, that’s 60, maybe 65 deg night temperature and above will help mitigate that also.
So the way the plant is cultured is, at least commercially, is these plants have grown up. They form a fairly large tree, and then they’re cut off at the base and out of that come the suckers.
And it’s those suckers which are fairly good size caliber that they harvest the bark off of. So if we take a stem like this, it’s this outside bark that actually creates a cinnamon.
And if you scrape and smell it, it would be terrifically aromatic. And so the cinnamon actually would be the peeling of this outside bark from the tree.
There’s a piece of the bark , which is actually some of the older, thicker wood would be dried and then ground into your cinnamon. And if you actually dry this even this little green piece , you’ll actually get the aromatic cinnamon out of it.
How Big Can A Cinnamon Tree Get?

How To Grow Cinnamon In Pots

Cassia botnickle name is cinnamon Aromatica, it’s totally different one. While the real cinnamon Port nick name is cinnamon Zelu Nikum, two different names.
While the fake cinnamon, the cassia, it grows in China, Vietnam, Indonesia, these countries. While the real cinnamon, grows in Sri Lanka and northeast part of India.
That’s all the real cinnamon. It’s much more expensive. The fake cinnamon that’s available in the market, it’s very cheaper. That’s why it’s so easily available. Also, the fake cinnamon is not good for health.
Because daily use or the longterm use of this cinnamon will cause problems like headache, digestive problems, even it’s not healthy for the liver. So my recommendation is either use the real cinnamon either don’t use it.
Next up we got the texture: the real cinnamon has many spiral kinds of designs inside it. While the fake cinnamon, that’s Cassia has a tunnel kind of hole inside it, that’s all there is nothing spiral inside it either. There will be two tunnels inside one stick.
